Ella Chen is a popular Taiwanese singer and actress. She was born on June 18, 1981, with the name Chen Chia Hua but was given the name “Ella” by her record company after she took a personality test. Her English name before working in the entertainment industry was Water. Ella Chen is best known for being a member of the popular Chinese pop girl group S.H.E, which she joined after participating in the Universal 2000 Talent and Beauty Girl Contest at the insistence of her sister. Ella Chen made her acting debut in 2002 with the Taiwanese drama “Magical Love” and has starred in many other popular series since, including “Down With Love” (2010) and “Reaching for the Stars” (2005). Her group S.H.E also has contributed theme songs to many television dramas. Ella Chen has been married to Alvin Lai since 2012.
