Tang Wei is a Chinese actress born in Wenzhou, China, on October 7, 1979. She made her TV debut in the late 1990s, but first truly rose to prominence after her appearance in the internationally acclaimed, Ang Lee-directed “Lust, Caution” (2007), for which she won the Golden Horse Award for Best New Performer. Success came at a cost, however. Her appearance in “Lust, Caution” featured several scenes of a mature nature and resulted in a temporary ban on her media activities by Chinese government agency the National Radio and Television Administration. She returned to making big-budget Chinese movies in 2011 when she appeared in “Speed Angels.” She has also starred in movies such as “Finding Mr. Right” (2013) and “Book of Love” (2016).
