Kangnam is the stage name of Yasuo Namekawa, a Japanese-Korean singer and television celebrity active in South Korea. Born on March 23, 1987, in Tokyo, to a Korean mother and a Japanese father, he is best known as the vocalist for the South Korean hip-hop group M.I.B. He made his music debut under the stage name Ya-Cha with the Japanese band Kick Chop Busters in 2008. But he left the band and Japan in 2010 and debuted with M.I.B in Korea in 2011. Since 2014, Kangnam has been a popular cast member of Korean reality shows, including “Inside Story Salon,” “Hello Stranger,” “Animals,” “Off to School,” “Invisible Man” and “I Live Alone.”
