Chow Yun Fat is a Hong Kong actor who was born on Lamma Island, Hong Kong, on May 18, 1955. He studied at the City University of Hong Kong and was first cast as an actor by the Hong Kong broadcaster TVB in the late 1970s. He appeared in the smash-hit drama series “The Bund” in 1980 and went on to become one of the biggest stars in Asian cinema, striking up a partnership with the director John Woo. Together, the two went on to work on the blockbuster hits “City on Fire” (1987) and “Hard Boiled” (1992). He followed up with further box office smash hits like “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” (2000) and 2003’s “Bulletproof Monk” – as well as the more recent “Cold War 2” in 2016.
