Ken Lok is a Hong Kong actor who was born in Hong Kong on May 7, 1964. He began acting in the mid-1980s, starring in drama series titles such as “Jade Bow Connection” (1984). He has since gone on to appear in movies and drama series releases in multiple Asian nations. In more recent years, he has starred in the dramas “Horus Eye” (2019) and “Still Not Enough” (2020). He also played the antagonist in the movie “The Enchanting Phantom” (2020).

Gu Yi (Luo Zheng) is the demanding and seemingly cold CEO of the Anxia Group, a successful real estate developer. His personal assistant is the quick-thinking, strong, and independent Qian Jing (He Rui Xian). Together, the CEO and his assistant make a powerful team, and their working relationship allows them to land lucrative contracts with relative ease. They have been working together for several years, and, eventually, their relationship became romantic.

But while Gu Yi seems calculating and aloof, he is actually a very troubled individual. A car accident has left him with trauma, and the events of that fateful day haunt his thoughts and dreams. This has left him with deep emotional scars and sometimes extreme mood swings. And that makes him volatile and possessive, particularly toward Qian Jing. For her own part, Qian Jing is also haunted by ghosts from her past. Terrible things are afoot in Bianliang City. At night, there are reports of blood-hungry humanoid, wolf-like creatures hunting innocent people in the moonlight – attacking them with their sharp, poisonous claws. Nie Xiao Qian (Eleanor Lee) is part of a group of female ghosts who are bound to serve a cruel spirit that feeds on the souls of men. The siren-like ghosts bring men to their haunted liar, ply them with alcohol, seduce them – and then let the spirit feast on their souls.

But Nie Xiao Qian didn’t figure on meeting a man like the bumbling, but pure-hearted apprentice scholar Ning Cai Chen (Chen Xing Xu). This man is forced to spend the night at an abandoned temple on his way to take an important exam.

At first, she plans to seduce him and offer his soul up to the spirit, but is eventually taken in by his quirky charms.

Eventually, Ning Cai Chen learns who she really is – and discovers that the spirit is planning to marry her off to an evil demon. He starts to fall in love with her, and resolves to save her from this terrible fate!

This movie is adapted from a novel by Pu Song Ling, which also spawned a 1987 Hong Kong movie version.
