Philip Keung, or Keung Ho Man, as he’s also known, is an award-winning Hong Kong actor and film producer. He was born in Hong Kong on October 26, 1966, and made his debut as an actor in 1985, taking his first role in a television series. In 1988, he made his silver-screen debut and after turning his focus almost exclusively to film in 2010, has become one of the most prolific actors in Hong Kong cinema. Bringing home various awards for “Best Actor” and “Best Supporting Actor”, he has appeared in countless films and television dramas over the course of his career, including “Sheep Without a Shepherd” (2019).

Poon Shing Fung (Andy Lau) is one of the Hong Kong police force’s most brilliant bomb disposal. When he and his team discover a deadly device at a public site, the stakes are high. Despite his team’s efforts to defuse the device, it detonates, leaving him with crippling injuries. Distraught, he leaves the force.

But several years later, a gang of terrorist bombers named Vendetta is on the loose. When the police find Poon Shing Fung unconscious at the site of a Vendetta attack, they investigate, suspecting him of turning terrorist and joining the group. But Poon Shing Fung’s memory has been badly affected by the blast – he cannot clearly recall if he is indeed a member of Vendetta or an undercover cop trying to take the organization down. He also cannot remember his years as a police officer. The year is 1949 and China is in the final stages of a bloody civil war. The People’s Liberation Army knows that a final decisive push in the Battle of Pingjin will see much of Northern China fall under communist control. But the Nationalist Government forces are dug in deep, with a 500,000-strong force, and will not give in without a struggle.

While the main battle rages, a human drama is also unfurling, and a senior Nationalist army soldier named Yao Zhe (Wallace Chung) in Peiping (modern-day Beijing) is charged with ensuring the safety of the soldiers’ dependents.

But when a scheming officer compromises the safety of Yao Zhe’s daughter with a deadly and self-serving plan, Yao Zhe seeks to save his child – at any cost.

In the course of doing so, however, Yao Zhe stumbles across a daring People’s Liberation Army mission spearheaded by a company commander named Cai Xing Fu (Zhou Yi Wei).

Together with a tiny clutch of soldiers, Cai Xing Fu has sneaked into the city to scout out its defenses before a final assault on the Nationalist stronghold. He strikes up an unlikely alliance with Yao Zhe.

To further complicate matters, a young woman named Mei Yan (Zhong Chu Xi) is also on the scene, on a secret mission of her own – to avenge the cruel soldier responsible for the death of her parents.

Will this motley crew help keep the death toll down as the battle moves toward its decisive stages? And where do their true loyalties lie?

It’s been seventeen years since Li Wei Jie (Yang Xiao) decided to leave his native homeland and make a new life for himself and his young family in Thailand. The move wasn’t easy, nor was adapting to a whole new way of life, but Wei Jie and his wife, Ayu (Tan Zhuo), never gave up and from their labor came great rewards. Now the owner of his own business, his own spacious home, and the father of two adoring daughters, Wei Jie has comfortably settled into his life and enjoys nothing more than indulging in a little local gossip, an occasional Muay Tai match, and his all-time favorite past-time, watching movies.

As satisfied as Wei Jie is with his life, things for his family aren’t quite so rosy. Bullied by her peers and completely unable to connect with her father, Wei Jie’s eldest daughter, Ping Ping (Audrey Hui) is absolutely miserable. Unfortunately, things for her get infinitely worse when a spoiled brat by the name of Suchat (Bian Tian Yang) blackmails her for sex. Not knowing what else to do, Ping Ping agrees to meet Suchat in secret but Ayu suspects Ping Ping is hiding something and decides to take matters into her own hands. Unwilling to let anyone get away with harming her precious daughter, Ayu confronts Suchat in her daughter’s stead but all her good intentions turn sour when an accident turns Ayu and Ping Ping into murderers.

Not knowing what else to do, the mother and daughter turn to Wei Jie for help. Hoping to protect his family from the swift retribution of the law, Wei Jie uses his vast knowledge of detective films to match wits with Lawan (Chen Chong), the vengeful Chief of Police who just happens to be Suchat’s mother. Can a desperate father really save his family from a criminal justice system he distrusts, using nothing more than his wits and an endless supply of old film references?&nbsp;

Inspired by the 2015 Indian film, “Drishyam”, “Sheep Without a Shepherd” is a 2019 thriller film directed by Sam Quah.
