Dou Xiao, who also is known as Shawn Dou, is a Chinese actor. Born on December 15, 1988, he immigrated to Vancouver, Canada, with his family when he was 10 years old. After graduating from high school there, he returned to China to enroll in the Beijing Film Academy in 2008. He gained immediate fame after starring in the 2010 film “Under the Hawthorn Tree” directed by the famed Zhang Yimou. He has since starred in many popular films, including “Youth Dinner” (2017), which brought him the Best Actor award at the 11th Festival Du Cinema Chinois De Paris, and the television drama “Princess Agents” (2017).

The 22nd floor of an apartment complex in a busy district of Shanghai, China is a very lively place! The apartments on this floor have female occupants, and as they all settle into the accommodation, they start to get to know one another – and support one another, despite coming from different backgrounds.

First, there’s Zhu Zhe (Zhang Jia Ning), a hotel manager who is starting to become concerned that her lack of an outstanding academic background is halting her progression up the career ladder. Sharing one of the flats are friends Yu Chu Hui (Li Hao Fei) and He Min Hong (Zhang Hui Wen). The former thinks she has the world all figured out, but soon realizes that life doesn’t always bend to her will. The latter has a heart of gold, but – despite her best intentions – sometimes ends up causing trouble when she was only trying to help! Du Xiao Su (Li Qin) is an entertainment reporter on the hunt for a scoop. She goes undercover as a nurse so she can gain access to a hospital wing where a major star is receiving treatment after a traffic accident. At the hospital, she meets Shao Zhen Rong (Zhang Yun Long), a handsome doctor – and the two begin to develop strong feelings for one another. They eventually plan to marry, but when he invites her to his house to meet his family, she is aghast when she discovers that his brother Lei Yu Zheng (Shawn Dou) is a man she had a one-night stand with several years ago.

Recrimination follows, but it is soon followed by tragedy: A huge mudslide claims the life of Shao Zhen Rong. Du Xiao Su is distraught and works herself to the point of utter fatigue and sickness. Lei Yu Zhen witnesses her suffering and begins to wonder if he actually has deeper feelings for her. But can bygones ever be bygones for these two young people?

This drama was based on the novel “Variety Flowers at the Seaside,” authored by Fei Wo Si Cun.

It is the late 10th century, and the Liao dynasty is at the zenith of its power. The powerful Liao rule much of what is now Northeast China, Mongolia, and Russia, as well as much of the Korean peninsula.

Eagerly looking forward to his four children’s annual summer visit, recently widowed and retired geologist, Guan Zhi Guo (Zhang Guo Li), is bitterly disappointed when, one by one, his children call and cancel.
