When reporter Im Sang Jin (Son Suk Ku) publishes a piece on the tyranny of a giant corporation, his work is denounced online as being fake, and he's suspended from work. He is mysteriously approached by an informant who alleges that there's a secret company dedicated to systematic online manipulation through fake news and ads — a troll factory. When Sang Jin publishes a story about this business, though, his informant disappears. Caught in a precarious position, does Sang Jin have what it takes to take down an enigmatic troll factory? Partially blind, Kyung Soo (Ryu Jun Yeol) struggles to see during the day, but his skill as an acupuncturist has earned him the attention of the palace. Recognized for his talent by Lee Hyung Ik (Choi Moo Sung), Kyung Soo is extended an invitation to work in the palace alongside the royal physician of King Injo (Yoo Hae Jin). Unable to refuse such an offer, Kyung Soo happily accepts, unwittingly setting himself on a dark and dangerous path.

Not long after accepting his position at the palace, Crown Prince Sohyeon (Kim Sung Cheol), who was taken hostage by the Qing Dynasty eight years ago, returns home. While the king is happy for his son’s safe return, their differences in opinion regarding the future direction of the dynasty upsets King Injo so much, that he soon begins to suffer from severe anxiety and paranoia. Unfortunately, Injo’s suffering is only further heightened when it is discovered that his son has been murdered.

With eyes that can only see in the dark, Kyung Soo witnesses Sohyeon’s murder but all of his attempts to reveal the culprit are discounted due to his blindness. As the king begins to sink into madness, Kyung Soo attempts to reveal the truth surrounding the crown prince’s murder but his quest for justice soon marks him as a target for the palace’s power-hungry conspirators. Will Kyung Soo be able to mete out justice and restore peace to the palace or will his quest for the truth ultimately destroy him?

Inspired by historical events, “The Night Owl” is a 2022 South Korean period thriller drama film directed by Ahn Tae Jin.

The year is 1950, and much of South Korea has fallen to invading armies from the North.

Southern forces, in conjunction with the American military, are planning an audacious bid to recapture the port of Incheon from the sea.

However, the allied generals believe that if they are to be successful in Incheon, they will need a diversion – to draw North Korean forces away from the heavily defended port.

The allied military hatches a plan. They will send a group of 772 raw, young recruits, including lowly private Choi Sung Pil (Choi Minho) and led by inexperienced commander Lee Myung Joon (Kim Myung Min), to Jansari, a beach in North Gyeongsang Province. The operation is top secret, and generals privately do not expect the soldiers to return alive.

As soon as the mission begins, the green forces soon realize they are hopelessly unequipped, with barely enough weapons and ammunition to defend themselves – or enough food and equipment to survive.

American news reporter Maggie Higgins (Megan Fox) learns of the plan, and attempts to gain help from the international community – but is it already too late for the young soldiers?

“The Battle of Jangsari” is a 2019 South Korean war movie, which was based partly on a true story. It was directed by Kwak Kyung Taek and Kim Tae Hoon.
