The fighters are a rag-tag group of railway workers and miners, and are led by the veteran Hong (Zhang Han Yu). Securing supplies for mountain-based guerilla combatants is a must in the resistance movement.

Hong’s operation operates out of a railway yard in Lincheng. But with the aid of the linguist and double agent Old Wang (Fan Wei) and the nurse Zhuang Yan (Zhou Ye), he starts making breakthroughs. This all sparks the ire of the Imperial Japanese, however, who dispatch a crack investigator to ensure that a huge stash of weapons reaches its intended target. Will Hong manage to intercept the cache’s passage through China – or will the fiendishly clever uncover the secret operation?

The year is 2019 and in the Chinese city of Wuhan, Hubei Province, doctors begin admitting patients who appear to have fallen ill with some kind of disease with symptoms quite unlike any other illness. The year is 1941 and East Asia is being torn apart by war – on land, at sea, and in the air. Imperial Japanese forces have occupied Hong Kong and work with native collaborators in a bid to impose strict Japanese martial law.

The role is perilous, and beset with danger at every turn. When Japanese intelligence officers learn that a mole has infiltrated the military ranks, a deadly hunt begins – in an effort to expose, capture, and torture the Autumn Cicada.

Fortunately, a handful of sympathetic freedom fighters is ready to help Ye Chong complete his mission – including the beautiful He Ying (Li Man).

It is May 14, 2018, and 100 or so passengers are aboard Airbus flight A319 from Chongqing to Lhasa, Tibet. The aircraft suffers a major blow when the cockpit’s windshield cracks. The pilots radio air traffic control to report on their perilous situation. But then the unthinkable happens – the glass shatters, sending the pressure spiraling throughout the aircraft. The passengers panic, and one of the pilot team is taken out of action, leaving the former air force ace-turned steely nerved veteran captain Liu Chang Jian (Zhang Han Yu) to find a solution to the problem, along with his first mate Liang Dong (Du Jiang). The plane plummets almost 2.5km, and the captain manages to intervene just in time, but the really tough flying is only just getting started.

The aircraft is flying above the Tibetan Himalayas, oxygen reserves are running low and a storm starts to brew outside, making Liu Chang Jian’s seemingly impossible task that bit harder. Pandemonium breaks out among the passengers, but the lead flight attendant Bin Nan (Yuan Quan) is determined to calm their nerves and make them place their trust in her, the crew...and the captain.
