For the last decade of ordinary office worker Kim Dok Ja's (Ahn Hyo Seop) life, one thing has remained constant: reading the fantasy web novel "Three Ways to Survive in a Ruined World." While the story was originally popular, it lost viewership due to strange plot choices – except for Dok Ja, who eventually became the novel's sole reader. As Dok Ja reads the final chapter of the novel, he finds himself dissatisfied with the story's ending... and suddenly, the world around him transforms into the novel's intergalactic setting. Now, Dok Ja is forced to team up with novel protagonist Yu Jung Hyeok (Lee Min Ho), a powerful warrior, in an attempt to save the world, despite having zero relevant experience. Will Dok Ja and Jung Hyeok succeed in their mission, or is their fate already written for them? This drama was adapted from the web novel "Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint" by Sing N Song.

Amidst fears of a third world war breaking out, Ahab (Ha Jung Woo), the captain of a private mercenary company, is tasked with a covert CIA mission to infiltrate a secret bunker underneath the Korean DMZ and eliminate a high-value target. However, Ahab and his team discover that the target is actually the Supreme Leader of North Korea – and the mission goes awry when a shootout leaves several of Ahab's men incapacitated or dead, and the Supreme Leader seriously wounded. As Ahab tries to work around both the CIA and a rival group of mercenaries, he forms an unlikely alliance with North Korean Dr. Yoon (Lee Sun Kyun) as they try to keep the Supreme Leader alive per the CIA's demands, or they risk being left to die themselves. Things only get worse when a series of bombs causes the bunker to collapse around them, forcing them into an even more dire situation.
