When drama hits the fan

A former Army Intelligence spy is forced to give up his quiet existence to save the life of a little girl.

Cha Tae Sik (Won Bin) owns a run-down pawn shop in a sketchy neighborhood. Known as “ajusshi” to everyone in the neighborhood, Tae Sik mostly keeps to himself and only befriends a young girl named So Mi (Kim Sae Ron), who comes to hang out at his shop when her drug-addicted mom, Hyo Jung (Kim Hyo Seo), is entertaining men.

When Hyo Jung steals heroine from a dangerous crime organization, crime lord Oh Myung Gyu (Song Young Chang) sends his subordinates, brothers Man Seok (Kim Hee Won) and Jong Seok (Kim Sung Oh) and their henchman Lum Ramrowa (Thanayong Wongtrakul), after Hyo Jung. When the gangsters come to Tae Sik’s pawn shop looking for Hyo Jong, Jong Seok and his men end up taking Hyo Jung and So Mi captive.

The gangsters soon learn that they messed with the wrong guy, as it turns out that Tae Sik is a former covert operative for the South Korean Army Intelligence. Tae Sik goes after the dangerous gangsters to try to save So Mi’s life, but can he get to her in time?

As Myung Hoon tries to carry out his mission, political unrest in the North Korean government results in Myung Hoon suddenly becoming a liability to Colonel Moon. When an assassin is sent to kill Myung Hoon, can he survive and save his sister back home?

Can a blind woman stop a dangerous kidnapper before she becomes his next victim?

Lu Xiao Xing (Yang Mi) is a blind woman. She used to be a rookie cop, but she lost her brother and her sight in a car crash three years ago. When several women in the city begin to disappear without a trace, Xiao Xing asks to be reinstated as a police officer so that she can help with the case. But the blind Xiao Xing is unsuccessful in her bid to return to work as a police officer.

As Xiao Xing fights the driver over the coffee, the car crashes and Xiao Xing manages to escape in the ensuing chaos. When she goes to Captain Lu (Wang Jing Chun) to report the incident, Xiao Xing is able to recall key details about the car and driver despite being blind. When an impetuous teenager, Lin Chong (Lu Han), comes forward as an eyewitness to the attempted abduction, both Xiao Xing and Captain Lu have a hard time believing his credibility. But can Lin Chong help Xiao Xing track down the mysterious abductor before it’s too late?

“The Witness” is a 2015 Chinese film directed by Ahn Sang Hoon. It is a remake of the 2011 South Korean film “Blind,” which also was directed by Ahn Sang Hoon.
