Synopsis

The year is 1950, and much of South Korea has fallen to invading armies from the North. Southern forces, in conjunction with the American military, are planning an audacious bid to recapture the port of Incheon from the sea. However, the allied generals believe that if they are to be successful in Incheon, they will need a diversion – to draw North Korean forces away from the heavily defended port. The allied military hatches a plan. They will send a group of 772 raw, young recruits, including lowly private Choi Sung Pil (Choi Minho) and led by inexperienced commander Lee Myung Joon (Kim Myung Min), to Jansari, a beach in North Gyeongsang Province. The operation is top secret, and generals privately do not expect the soldiers to return alive. As soon as the mission begins, the green forces soon realize they are hopelessly unequipped, with barely enough weapons and ammunition to defend themselves – or enough food and equipment to survive. American news reporter Maggie Higgins (Megan Fox) learns of the plan, and attempts to gain help from the international community – but is it already too late for the young soldiers? “The Battle of Jangsari” is a 2019 South Korean war movie, which was based partly on a true story. It was directed by Kwak Kyung Taek and Kim Tae Hoon.
