Synopsis

A 13-year-old girl named Soo Rin (Shin Eun Soo) is forced to relocate to a small island with her stepfather after the death of her mother when he is placed in charge of a major construction project on the island. There she meets a young orphan boy named Seong Min (Lee Hyo Je). They soon discover that they have similar interests and a shared love for mysterious stories and folklore. One day, Soo Rin joins Seong Min and his three friends on a secret journey to the heart of the construction site. They come across a cave, and venture inside where they find a strange egg they believe may contain a monster that can turn children into adults. The boys take the egg – despite Soo Rin’s misgivings… The boys vanish and find themselves trapped in a bizarre time bubble, while Soo Rin is unaffected. A massive manhunt is launched, with many fearing that the boys have been abducted by a dangerous criminal. But when – a few years later – a 30-year-old man (played by Kang Dong Won) turns up telling Soo Rin that he is Seong Min, she must decide whether this strange man is an impostor, or if he really is her friend, all grown up. “Vanishing Time: A Boy Who Returned” is a 2016 South Korean movie that was directed by Um Tae Hwa.
