Masao Kusakari is a Japanese actor and model who was born in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, on September 5, 1952. He began his modeling career in the early 1970s and made his movie debut in the 1974 release “ESPY.” He made his drama series debut in the 1976 period title “Kaze to Kumo to Niji to.” He has since gone on to appear in scores of Japanese films, including “Brother and Sister” in 1976, 2004’s “Ultraman” and the more recent (2018) film “My Retirement, My Life,” where he played the lead male role.

Fumino Kimura is a Japanese actress who was born on October 19, 1987, in Tokyo, Japan. She made her acting debut in the mid-2000s, appearing in films such as “Kaze no Dadu” (2006) and “Adan” (2006), as well as the drama series “Dandan” (2008-2009). Emi Wakui is a Japanese actress who was born on December 8, 1970, in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. She made her debut in the 1988 drama series and manga adaptation “Hana no Asuka-gumi!” She followed up with her movie bow in “Beppin no Machi” in 1989. In 1993, she starred in the series “Rainbow Bridge,” bagging the Best Actress prize at the 1994 Japanese Academy Awards for her performance. Emi Wakui

Yuu Tokui is a Japanese actor who was born on September 28, 1959, in Osaka, Japan. He made his big-screen debut in the 1979 movie “Japanese Mastermind,” going on to appear in the film “Fancy Dance” (1989). In the mid-1990s, he transitioned into small-screen performances, appearing in dramas such as “Mirai-chan” in 1997. He has since gone on to star in the films “I Am a Hero” (2016) and “My Retirement, My Life” (2018).

Daichi Watanabe

Michitaro Sano (Masao Kusakari) threw himself into his work life after his wife died almost two decades ago, and ever since has lived with his daughter Yumiko (Fumino Kimura).

The latter has taken sole care of the house since her mother died, balancing her own working life with her duties at home.

Michitaro Sano was almost oblivious to his daughter’s life while he was still working. But when he retires, he finds himself with almost nothing to do all day.

With all this free time, he starts to learn more about his daughter’s life, and is surprised to learn that not only does she have a boyfriend that he did not know about, but that she is seriously thinking about getting married to him.

She also asks him to start pulling his weight at home, helping with the chores for the very first time.

As a distraction from his now-mundane home life, he decides to join a fitness group run by a local radio station – discovering a whole new group of people who help him learn about life after retirement.

“My Retirement, My Life” is a 2018 Japanese movie that was directed by Takeo Kikuchi.
