In 1937, during the Second Sino-Japanese War, Lieutenant Colonel Xie Jin Yuan (Du Chun) leads 452 young officers and soldiers of the 88th Division in a desperate last stand at the Sihang Warehouse against the overwhelming Japanese army. Facing nearly 20,000 enemy troops, these brave soldiers know their mission is hopeless but choose to fight with extraordinary courage. For four critical days, they resist the relentless Japanese assault, buying crucial time for the rest of the Chinese army to retreat. Though they ultimately lose the battle, their heroic sacrifice becomes a powerful symbol of resistance and national pride. This remarkable true story showcases the extraordinary bravery of soldiers who chose honor and duty over certain defeat. "The Eight Hundred" is a 2020 historical war film directed by Guan Hu that commemorates these unsung heroes of the Chinese resistance.
