Best Friend

In 1980s South Korea, Lee Eui Shik (Oh Dal Soo), a popular left-wing politician under house arrest, becomes the target of political rivals seeking to discredit him. A government agency dispatches a team of covert spies, led by Dae Kwon (Jung Woo) and including bugging expert Dong Shik (Kim Byung Chul), to pose as neighbors and gather incriminating evidence. As they secretly plant surveillance devices and listen to Lee Eui Shik's private conversations, the team gradually discovers that he may not be the corrupt politician his enemies claim. Their investigation reveals a more complex and potentially sympathetic portrait of the politician. This is a 2020 South Korean movie directed by Lee Hwan Kyung.
