Lee Man (Aaron Kwok), a struggling artist-turned-criminal, is extradited from Thailand to Hong Kong to help police track down a mysterious criminal genius known as Painter (Chow Yun Fat). Initially reluctant, Lee Man is persuaded to cooperate after learning Painter has killed his former girlfriend's lover and threatens her life. He reveals how Painter recruited him into a counterfeit US dollar printing ring, exploiting Lee Man's advanced copying skills during his struggling artist days in Canada. As Lee Man recounts his involvement with Painter's gang, the stakes grow higher, and he warns of severe consequences if Painter discovers his cooperation with the police.
