Synopsis
Nana Osaki (Nakashima Mika) and Nana Komatsu (Yui Ichikawa) are two young women – both called Nana. Coincidentally, both have relatively recently moved to the capital Tokyo to pursue their dreams. But that is where the similarities end. Nana Osaki is a keen wannabe musician who loves punk and rock music, as well as the fashion look that goes with high-octane, guitar-based music. Nana Komatsu, meanwhile, is more traditionally feminine, and dreams of nothing more than starting a calm and simple new life with a good man. Remarkably, however, they formed a close friendship after meeting in Tokyo.
But as Nana Osaki starts to close in on realizing her dream, and making her first major steps on the rock scene, Nana Komatsu’s life appears to be going in the opposite direction. She loses her job and her love life becomes turbulent. All this begins to place a major strain on their friendship. When the lines dividing romance and music start to become blurry, the two young women reach a vital crossroads in their relationship…
This movie was based on a long-running manga series named “Nana,” which began its run in 2000.
“Nana 2” is a 2006 movie that was directed by Kentaro Otani.
