My Teacher

Like many high school students her age, Hibiki Shimada (Suzu Hirose) has yet to experience any of the ups and downs of love. At seventeen, she has devoted more time to her love of archery and the school’s archery club, than to any romantic pursuits. But when she lays eyes on the school’s young world history teacher, Kosaku Ito (Toma Ikuta), for the first time, everything changes. Seen by most as a stern, cold individual, Kosaku isn’t exactly the friendliest of the schools’ teachers. But when he unexpectedly comes to Hibiki’s rescue, she realizes that beneath his cold exterior lies a kind and compassionate heart. Falling more in love with him by the day, Hibiki decides to confess her feelings. Unfortunately, as soon as Hibiki tells Kosaku how she feels, he rejects her completely.   Undeterred by Kosaku’s rejection, Hibiki continues to harbor a crush on her teacher, hoping that her feelings will eventually melt his icy heart. Unable to deny Hibiki’s sincerity, the wall Kosaku has put up between them slowly begins to crumble. But how can a teacher and a student ever find a way to live happily ever after? Based on the manga series of the same name by Kazune Kawahara, “My Teacher” is a 2017 Japanese romance film directed by Takahiro Miki.
