Synopsis

Despite her young age, high school student, Tsubaki Hibino (Emi Takei) is a whiz when it comes to styling hair. Able to turn the most drab hair into something amazing, Tsubaki is never happier than when she’s working on transforming someone else’s look. But when it comes to her own hair, Tsubaki never feels confident enough to even try.  Suffering from woefully low self-esteem, Tsubaki doesn’t really feel like she fits in anywhere, especially at school. With her drab hair and old-fashioned clothes, she is frequently teased and tormented by her classmates; the worst of them being Kyota Tsubaki (Tori Matsuzaka), the class’s unofficial leader and notorious playboy. Delighting in tormenting Tsubaki, Kyota teases her incessantly and the rest of the class follows. But things take an unexpected turn when Kyota decides to ask Tsubaki out and she inexplicably says yes. Polar opposites, Tsubaki and Kyota’s relationship should have been doomed from the start but what begins as a joke soon turns into something else entirely. Could it be possible this unlikely pair is exactly what the other needed? A cute high school love story, “Love for Beginners” is a 2012 Japanese romance film directed by Takeshi Furusawa.
