The Monkey Is Back

The Stone Monkey (Pakho Chau), a powerful deity and guardian of the mortal realm, faces a crisis when a fierce wood demon threatens a small village. Ba Hai Xing (Chai Wei), a woman from his past, remembers a promise he once made her, while the villagers have lost faith in their former protector. When deities clash, the Stone Monkey falls from the heavenly realm, losing his divine powers and landing in the village. Stripped of his supernatural abilities, he must now defend the population against the impending evil. Will he be able to save the day and fulfill his promise to Ba Hai Xing? Based on characters from the classic 16th-century Chinese novel "Journey to the West," this is a 2021 Chinese movie directed by Li Wei Ji.
