The Highway Family

Ki Woo (Jung Il Woo) and Ji Sook (Kim Seul Gi), a homeless couple with two children and another on the way, survive by scamming drivers at highway rest areas. They convince travelers to give them money by claiming they've forgotten their wallets and need gas money. After tricking Young Sun (Ra Mi Ran), a grieving mother, Ki Woo is arrested when she recognizes him pulling the same scam again. Ji Sook and their children loyally follow him to the police station, creating a pitiful scene that moves Young Sun to reconsider her initial anger. As she witnesses the struggling family's desperation, Young Sun begins to contemplate how she might help them, potentially finding a way to heal her own emotional wounds from losing her child. This is a 2022 South Korean movie directed by Lee Sang Moon.
