Synopsis
In 1969, ten-year-old Young Rae (Park Ji Bin) lives with his single mother (Shin Ae Ra) in the countryside, where she sells illegally imported cosmetics to make ends meet. Young Rae is determined and resilient, but he is deeply affected by being called "fatherless" by other kids. However, his life changes when he hears that his father, who he thought was dead, is actually alive and living in Seoul. Unfortunately, Seoul is a long and expensive train ride away from Young Rae's hometown. To try and raise money for a train ticket, Young Rae begins selling ice cream bars, but encounters numerous obstacles from ice cream thieves to his own mother opposing his efforts. Will Young Rae ever be able to meet his father? This award-winning 2006 Korean movie was directed by Yeo In Kwang.
