He started out as a musical actor, making his debut in a stage play production of “Line 1” in 1995. Seong Woo (Lee Eol) is the lead singer and guitarist of the Waikiki Brothers, a struggling band that mainly performs in nightclubs. With his bandmates, the keyboardist Jeong Seok (Park Won Sang) and the drummer Kang Su (Hwang Jung Min), he heads back to his hometown. The group finds work here. But Woo also finds himself reunited with some of his former high school friends. These include In Hui (Oh Ji Hye), his now-widowed first love, as well as some of the people he first started his musical career with. Will this journey down memory lane prove too difficult for the Waikiki Brothers – or could it grant the group a new lease of life? This 2001 South Korean movie was directed by Yim Soon Rye.
