
Synopsis
During World War II, Bae Jung Gil (Kim Hae Sook) was a South Korean woman forced into sexual slavery by the Japanese military. Years later, working as a housekeeper for Moon Jung Sook (Kim Hee Ae), Jung Gil mysteriously disappears. Jung Sook begins investigating her former housekeeper's past, uncovering the devastating stories of comfort women during the war. Driven by compassion and a quest for justice, she helps the surviving victims challenge the Japanese government in court, seeking long-overdue recognition and reparation for their suffering. This powerful narrative exposes the painful historical trauma of wartime sexual violence and the resilience of women who fought to reclaim their dignity. Based on real-life events surrounding the Shimonoseki trials, this is a 2018 South Korean drama film directed by Min Kyu Dong.
