Citizen of a Kind

Duk Hee (Ra Mi Ran) is a middle-aged single mother who works at a laundromat. Her mundane life is turned upside-down when a voice phishing scammer from China calls – and dupes her into sending his gang 32 million won ($23,700 USD). She tries to take the matter up with the police, who prove to be of little help. So, she takes matters into her own hands: with the help of two colleagues, she sets off in search of the scammers. She is aided in her quest by gang member Son Jae Min (Gong Myung), who helps provide her with insider information. Can Duk Hee recover her money – and break up the nefarious gang? This 2024 South Korean movie was based on a true story and was directed by Park Young Ju.
