In the late 1990s, South Korea's economy is at a turning point. Gap Su (Huh Joon Ho), the owner of a small factory, thinks he's gotten a big break after winning a contract with a department store, but doesn't realize that accepting a promissory note as payment leaves him unable to pay his suppliers after the store declares bankruptcy. Financial consultant Jung Hak (Yoo Ah In) takes a huge risk after he hears about the financial unrest on the news, resigning from his job and investing his money against the Korean economy. Si Hyun (Kim Hye Soo), the monetary policy manager at the Central Bank of Korea, reports a looming crisis due to Korea's dwindling foreign reserves, but the director decides not to inform the public immediately. The ensuing crash affects business owners, investors, and regulators in vastly different ways. This film was inspired by the 1997 IMF Crisis in South Korea.
