“Running Man” is a popular South Korean variety show that first aired on July 11, 2010. The original premise of the show featured the MCs and special guests completing missions and trying to win races at a Korean landmark location. After Episode 48, the show moved away from the performers taking part in a series of missions at one landmark to competing in one long race at a number of different locations with one winner declared at the end of the race. “Running Man” has gained popularity in many parts of Asia due to fansubbing of the episodes into many different languages. The main MC of “Running Man” is Yoo Jae Suk, who left the show “Family Outing” in February 2010 and is considered to have made a comeback to hosting with “Running Man.” Other cast and show regulars include Gary, Haha, Ji Suk Jin, Kim Jong Kook, Lee Kwang Soo and Song Ji Hyo, who became a regular starting with Episode 7 of the show. Former cast members include Lizzy and Song Joong Ki. Over the years, many famous Hallyu celebrities have appeared as special guests and competitors on “Running Man.” Some of the more prolific guests include Jung Yong Hwa of CNBLUE, Suzy of miss A, Nichkhun of 2PM, soccer player Park Ji Sung, Sulli of f(x), comedian Kim Je Dong, Lee Joon of MBLAQ, actor Ji Sung, IU, Jessica of Girls’ Generation, and actor Kim Woo Bin.
