Baron Chen is a Taiwanese model and actor. Born on May 9, 1981, he appeared in two of Jay Chou’s music videos in 2007 and 2008 before breaking into acting in the 2008 film “Kung Fu Dunk.” But his role in the 2008 television drama “Fated to Love You” brought him recognition and fame. Baron Chen has since starred in many popular films and television dramas, including the recent “The Magic Blade” (2012), “The First Card” (2013), “Extremely Urgent” (2014) and “Bromance” (2015). Baron Chen is the oldest son of Chen Chi Li, a reputed gang leader who is said to have masterminded the assassination of journalist Henry Liu in 1984.

He was born on July 7, 1989, in Seoul, South Korea, to a Taiwanese father and a Korean mother. Because South Korean law did not allow Korean women who married foreign men to transmit their Korean nationality to their children, Bii only held Taiwanese nationality and could not qualify for a Korean national identity card. Bii later went to China, where his father was working, to pursue a music career. He made his debut in 2010 with an EP and an album, released in both Korean and Mandarin.
