He studied at the Chinese Culture University, later going on to study filmmaking at the University of London’s Goldsmiths College. He began acting in earnest in the late 1980s, and has appeared in scores of hit drama and movie titles, including more recent drama hits such as “Rock Soulmate” and “Lost Romance” (2020).

He was born on July 7, 1989, in Seoul, South Korea, to a Taiwanese father and a Korean mother. Because South Korean law did not allow Korean women who married foreign men to transmit their Korean nationality to their children, Bii only held Taiwanese nationality and could not qualify for a Korean national identity card. Bii later went to China, where his father was working, to pursue a music career. He made his debut in 2010 with an EP and an album, released in both Korean and Mandarin. He also made his acting debut in the 2015 Taiwanese television series “Bromance.”
