Born on April 22, 1993, she has a twin sister, Ryu Hyo Young, who is a rapper and a member of Coed School and its sub-unit F-ve Dolls. Both Hyoyoung and Hwayoung were scouted after they made a guest appearance on the variety show “Star King” in 2010. Hwayoung then joined the girl group T-ara as its seventh member and lead rapper.
