Li Cheng Bin is a Taiwanese actor who was born on November 22, 1987. He first made a name for himself in the entertainment business when he began appearing in music videos in 2011 – first in a music release for singer Rainie, and then for artists Na Ying and A-Lin. He made his movie debut in 2015, appearing in “The Beloved,” and made his drama bow the same year, featuring in the series “Be Famous for 15 Minutes.” He has since gone on to appear in drama titles such as “Women of Shanghai” (2018) and Never Gone” (2018), as well as 2019’s “Arsenal Military Academy.”

Zhou Jie Qiong, also known as Kyulkyung, is a Chinese singer and actress who was born on December 16, 1998, in Taizhou, Zhejiang Province, China. She moved to South Korea to join Pledis Entertainment in 2009 and first rose to prominence when she placed sixth in the hit reality survival TV show “Produce 101” in 2016. She then became a member of the all-female K-pop group I.O.I, later going on to join the group Pristin, which debuted in 2017 with the song “Wee Woo.” The group officially disbanded on May 24, 2019. She has also appeared in a number of drama series titles, including “Legend of Fei” (2020).

Ran Yan (Zhou Jie Qiong) is an 18-year-old noblewoman whose family has fallen on hard times. Instead of living a life of luxury, she spent her youth learning about how to work as a sort of amateur forensic detective, conducting autopsies, and examining dead bodies for evidence linking criminals to murders. Far less squeamish than her male counterparts, she has never shied away from conducting an investigation. But when her mentor’s gambling debts get out of hand, she is forced to enter into a bargain whereby the mentor will be excused the debt if she “lends” her skills to investigators hunting for clues in a gangland killing.

As she investigates, she encounters a deadly assassin named Su Fu (Pei Zi Tian), as well as Xiao Song (Li Cheng Bin), the Emperor’s investigator and right-hand man. Both are on the hunt for a priceless pearl that Ran Yan begins to understand is the key to a gigantic and sprawling plot. As Xiao Song and Ran Yan begin to form a close bond, she realizes that she will need all of her investigative skills – and love smarts – about her if she is to get to the bottom of the case.
