Jo Jung Suk is an award-winning South Korean actor. Born on December 26, 1980, he spent almost 10 years of his career working in musicals and stage productions after making his debut in the 2004 production of “The Nutcracker.” He then made the leap to the big screen in the 2012 hit film “Architecture 101,” which brought him much acclaim and acting awards. He has since starred in many popular films and television dramas, including “The King 2 Hearts” (2012), “You’re the Best, Lee Soon Shin” (2013) and “Oh My Ghostess” (2015). Jo Jung Suk also joined the cast of the popular variety show “Youth Over Flowers” in 2016.

Jo Jung Suk

Yoon Shi Yoon is a South Korean actor. Born on September 26, 1986, as Yoon Dong Gu, he made his acting debut in the 2009 television sitcom “High Kick Through the Roof,” winning a Best Couple award with Shin Se Kyung and Best New Actor in TV at the Baeksang Arts Awards. Yoon Shi Yoon then shot to fame with his next role in “Baker King, Kim Tak Goo” in 2010. He has since starred in films, variety shows and television dramas, including “Me Too, Flower” (2011), “High Kick: Revenge of the Short Legged” (2011), “Flower Boys Next Door” (2013), “The Prime Minister Is Dating” (2013-2014), “Mirror of the Witch” (2016) and “Grand Prince” (2018).

She has since then had a prolific career in mainstream films, including “As One” (2012), for which she won Best New Actress at the 49th Baeksang Arts Awards, as well as “Commitment” (2013) and “Haemoo” (2014). She also has appeared in the television dramas “Imaginary Cat” (2015), “Six Flying Dragons” (2015) and “Switch” (2018).

Yeri Han

Choi Moo Sung is a South Korean actor. He was born January 12, 1968 and made his acting debut in 2002. At 34, he made quite a splash with his debut role and has been a highly sought after supporting player ever since. Averaging appearances in three films and three television dramas a year since his debut, he can be found in an incredible number of works including, “Reply 1998” (2015), “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo (2016), and “The Nokdu Flower” (2019).

Choi Moo Sung

Son Woo Hyeon is a South Korean actor who was born on November 30, 1989. He first made a name for himself when he appeared in the drama series “Miss Ripley” in 2011, following up with a role in “Myung Wol the Spy” (2012). After a brief hiatus, he returned in 2016 with the series “Blow Breeze” and his movie debut with “Fork Lane” (2017). More recently, he appeared in the dramas “Tale of the Nine-Tailed” and “To My Star” (both 2020).

Baek Eun Hye

As the first son of a wealthy and important government official, Baek Yi Kang (Jo Jung Suk) ought to have grown up with the world at his feet. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Being the illegitimate son of his father’s wife’s handmaid, Yi Kang spent his entire life being looked down upon by those around him, simply because his mother was part of a much lower social class. Downtrodden and practically an outcast, Yi Kang’s life has never been easy; however, the same can’t be said for his younger brother.

The only legitimate son of their father, Baek Yi Hyun (Yoon Shi Yoon) has known nothing but luxury and privilege his entire life. Having received an elite education in Japan, Yi Hyun has returned to his father’s home to prepare for the national civil service exam. Despite having different mothers, Yi Hyun has always treated his older brother well, but when rumblings of a peasant uprising begin to spread, things between the brothers become rather strained. Caught between these two brothers and the growing tension between them, is Song Ja In (Yeri Han), the daughter of a well-known and respected peddlers group who dreams of becoming the best merchant in all of Joseon.

With her own part to play in the impending uprising, Ja In’s involvement only serves to cause more tension between the brothers as Yi Kang sides with the lower classes while Yi Hyun sympathizes with upper classes. Can the strength of these brother’s bonds withstand the trials ahead or will their different ideologies eventually tear them apart?

Inspired by the events of the Donghak Peasant Revolution, “The Nokdu Flower” is a 2019 South Korean historical drama directed by Shin Kyung Soo.
