Kanoko Urabe (Honoka Matsumoto) lives in a rural village with her mother in early Showa-era Japan. However, Kanoko's uncanny ability to detect lies has made her an outcast, resulting in her decision to leave to avoid further burdening her mother. Kanoko finds her way to the town of Tsukumoya, where she meets Soma Iwai (Ouji Suzuka), a young, debt-stricken detective who rescues her after she collapses from hunger. To Kanoko's surprise, Soma finds her lie-detecting skills impressive and useful, and he offers her a job as his assistant. Combining Soma's deductive reasoning skills and Kanoko's abilities, they begin investigating strange incidents and solving crimes – but as they spend more time together, they might develop a personal relationship, too. This drama was adapted from the manga series of the same name by Ritsu Miyako.
