As the emperor's fourth-ranked bodyguard, Zhan Zhao (Yang Yang) is highly skilled, with a strong sense of morality and willingness to help others. However, when he receives a tip from an old friend about an unsolved mystery, he sets off to investigate on his own. While he encounters opposition along the way, he meets Huo Ling Long (Zhang Ruo Nan), the runaway daughter of a prominent family, and Bai Yu Tang (Alen Fang), a fighter nicknamed "The Golden-Haired Rat," who help him on his quest. Together, they investigate other cases that seem to relate to gang disputes – and grow ever closer to solving his original mystery. The series was adapted from the novel "Yu Lin Ling" by minifish, also an interpretation of the traditional story "The Seven Heroes and Five Gallants."
