Kim Jeong Hoon is a South Korean singer and actor. Born on January 20, 1980, he also is known as John Hoon in Japan. He first debuted with the music duo UN in 2000, but after it disbanded in 2005, he focused more on acting. Following Korea’s liberation in 1945, one of the country’s first acts was to reinstate the Korean monarchy. Since then, the country has thrived under the reign of its emperors and a fondness has grown between the monarchy and its people. As such, when it’s announced that Emperor Lee Hyeon (Park Chan Hwan) has fallen ill, the entire country hopes and prays for his quick recovery.

With the Emperor gravely ill, the imperial family insists that Crown Prince Lee Shin (Joo Ji Hoon) take a bride, thus securing his ascension to the throne, should the need arise. Though he once wished to marry Min Hyo Rin (Song Ji Hyo), a talented ballerina who chose her career over the prince, Lee Shin finds his wishes ultimately irrelevant as his grandfather had promised his hand to Shin Chae Kyung (Yoon Eun Hye), the granddaughter of the late Emperor’s best friend. Though not in love with the prince, Chae Kyung agrees to honor the late Emperor’s wishes to help her financially struggling family and soon finds herself trading her life as a normal high school girl for that of a Crown Princess.

Adjusting to life in the palace is hard for Chae Kyung, especially since her husband tends to give her the cold shoulder, but the arrival of Prince Lee Yul (Kim Jeong Hoon) makes her life a little easier as the two quickly become good friends. Despite her husband’s seemingly frozen heart, Chae Kyung can’t help falling for him over time. But can she ever win his heart if it seems it already belongs to someone else?
