Li Ge Xiao (Wallace Huo), a former high-ranking marshal turned master swordsman, leads a band of four thieves during the Ming Dynasty. After suffering a devastating loss to his nemesis Ying Wu Qiu (Edwin Siu), Ge Xiao forms the Yi Zhi Mei, a group of masked vigilantes dedicated to fighting corruption. Alongside Yan San Niang (Liu Shi Shi), a master pickpocket, He Xiao Mei (Ma Tian Yu), a disguise expert, and Cai Hu (Shi Yan Neng), who possesses superhuman strength, they intercept a stolen gold shipment meant for disaster-stricken people. The team uses their unique skills to combat injustice and help the common people during a time of great suffering. This 2011 Chinese drama series is a remake of the Korean dramas "Iljimae" (2008) and "The Return of Iljimae" (2009).
