Jing Chao is a Chinese actor. Born on April 15, 1986, in Shenyang, Liaoning, China, he made his acting debut in 2008. Since then, he has appeared in a handful of films and a wide variety of television dramas, including “Chinese Paladin 5: Clouds of the World” (2016) and “Decoded” (2016), “Here to Heart” (2018), “The Legend of Xiao Chuo” (2020), “Dream Garden” (2021), and “City of Streamer” (2022).

He gained immediate fame after starring in the 2010 film “Under the Hawthorn Tree” directed by the famed Zhang Yimou. He has since starred in many popular films, including “Youth Dinner” (2017), which brought him the Best Actor award at the 11th Festival Du Cinema Chinois De Paris, and the television drama “Princess Agents” (2017).

She was chosen by famed director Zhang Yimou to be one of the 14 “Olympic Babies” and performed in the “Chinese eight minutes” at the closing ceremonies of the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. Tiffany Tang made her acting debut in the 2005 television series “Meili Cungu” and her film debut in the 2006 film “Farewell for Love,” for which she was nominated for the White Magnolia Award for Best Actress at the Shanghai International Film Festival in 2007. It is the late 10th century, and the Liao dynasty is at the zenith of its power. The powerful Liao rule much of what is now Northeast China, Mongolia, and Russia, as well as much of the Korean peninsula.

Prime Minister Xiao Si Wen and Princess Yan of the Liao have three daughters, but their favorite is the youngest – the hard-working and diligent Xiao Chao (Tiffany Tang).

Xiao Chao’s heart belongs to aspiring military commander Han De Rang (Shawn Dou), whose family have loyally served the Liao for decades. But her parents have other plans for her – and succeed in arranging for her to marry the Liao Emperor, Jin Zhong (Jing Chao).

She obeys and goes on to become the Emperor’s queen, as well as a fierce defender of the Liao – helping to mobilize the army, heading a 10,000-strong cavalry regiment and providing support for the civil administration. Eventually, she is named Empress.

In the meantime, however, Han De Rang has continued his own rise through the ranks of both the military and the government, becoming a powerful general and a minister.

Xiao Chao is prepared to do anything to help the realm…but can she contain her feelings for Han De Rang? And can he, in turn, control his heart, which still beats for his childhood sweetheart, now the Empress?
